Everybody needs mental-health support. It’s simply how we’re wired as humans. For some of us, some of the time, social support from loved ones or peer support from those who understand what we’re going through is enough. But it can be hard to move forward in life when you’re experiencing anxiety, grief, addiction, depression, or panic, or if you’re dealing with ADHD, bi-polar conditions, brain trauma, substance use disorder, or feelings of pain related to physical causes. That’s when the guidance of mental-health professionals can help. A person who has dedicated their life to evaluating, diagnosing, and treating the very things that are holding you back can help you get to the root cause of your problem.

Mind Matters PsychiatryMD, now partnered with Geode Health, offers a friendly, responsive, and welcoming environment to receive just such mental-health support. Here are two of their outstanding providers.

Meet Dr. Oladele Adebogun

When Oladele Adebogun was in medical school, he became friends with a fellow student who suffered with schizophrenia. Before he knew it, he was staying up nights doing what he could to help this friend. It sparked in him an interest in psychiatry and the idea that he could gain the knowledge to help those suffering with mental health issues. Now as an interventional psychiatrist, he’s able to do just that. Twenty-seven years later, the field of psychiatry still excites him.

Dr. Adebogun, or “Dr. A” as he’s known to his patients, sees individuals, couples, and families in outpatient and in-home settings where he addresses autism spectrum disorder, depression, generalized anxiety disorder, hyperactive disorder (ADD/ADHD), and mood disorder.

Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Adebogun completed residency at the acclaimed Menninger Department of Psychiatry, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he served as chief resident of the Ben Taub General Hospital Psychiatry Emergency Room. He holds a Diplomate of American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and Diplomate of American Board of Addiction Medicine. He has distinguished peer appointments into numerous National Societies including Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Applying the evidence-based practice of pharmacogenetic-directed prescribing of psychotropic medications (PREDICT PSYMEDS), Dr. Adebogun offers safety benefits in pharmacogenomics testing to improve adherence and avoid suboptimal or harmful side effects treatment. He employs evidenced-based psych pharmacotherapeutic and eclectic psychotherapeutic approaches for adults, children, and adolescents suffering with complex disorders of sleep, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, dementias, personality and brain syndromes, schizophrenia, panic disorders, OCD, addiction disorders, and pain syndromes from emotional perspective, as well as those with complicated grief, PTSD, and despair in retirement.

Dr. Adebogun advocates a multidisciplinary approach to treating maltreated children in the custody of either child protective services or the juvenile detention and other legal systems. He marries psychiatry, spirituality, the inter-discipline of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and benefits of sports/exercise to deepen the exploration of healing, grief, and emotional pain response to loss from the different perspectives of each discipline on healthy emotions that mind matters.

When not on the job, Dr. Adebogun enjoys traveling, watching soccer, and playing ping pong. He and his wife have four wonderful children, including one son currently completing his own psychiatry residency. He’s passionate about clocks and anything Marvel which you can see by visiting any of the office locations.

Meet Dr. Ramakrishna Rao

Dr. Ramakrishna Rao is an experienced physician specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. With a strong background in internal medicine, Dr. Rao integrates holistic approaches into his practice, focusing on an integrative psychiatry and medical model. “I strive to provide well-rounded care by incorporating various therapeutic modalities and fostering a heart-centered, empathetic approach to health and healing,” he said. Board certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, Dr. Rao is currently pending recertification in internal medicine and recently completed the new integrative medicine boards, following an additional two years of training to effectively blend conventional medicine with holistic principles.

Born and raised in Texas with East Indian heritage, Dr. Rao has extensive experience addressing cross-cultural issues, particularly the generational similarities and differences between Eastern and Western perspectives. This background enables him to bridge diverse approaches to health and wholeness. He is well versed in the challenges of co-dependency and personality disorders, as well as their impact on emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

“It’s essential for a physician to understand these dynamics to provide comprehensive care,” he said. “As an artist myself, I encourage creative expression as a vital aspect of therapy and healing. I view creativity as a powerful tool for exploring oneself and one’s emotions.” Dr. Rao works within his patients’ unique belief systems — whatever they are — to help them recognize that healthcare is an ongoing journey and that this journey can also be a creative and spiritual practice that enhances self-esteem and fosters personal growth. He looks forward to meeting those seeking support, facilitation, and guidance in their unique lives and experiences. Dr. Rao is an avid artist and ventriloquist who enjoys tennis, yoga, communing with nature, and geologic rock collecting.
