Highly skilled doctors and staff in a welcoming and compassionate environment have made award-winning Lockhart Matter Dermatology the top choice in skin care for area families for over two decades.
Lockhart Matter Dermatology was founded in 2004 by board certified dermatologists Dr. Susanne Lockhart and Dr. Christie Matter in Plano. They have now grown to three North Texas locations including Prosper and McKinney. They believe in beautiful, healthy skin for every body and have a great team of like-minded board certified dermatology providers who absolutely share this philosophy and motto. Their down-to-earth approach ensures that each patient receives only the care and treatments needed to address their issues.
The providers at Lockhart Matter Dermatology treat families from newborns to great-grandparents. Because they are not a corporate medicine group, these professionals do not over schedule. They hold appointment spaces open for new and established patient work-ins and patients with urgent concerns, with 48-hour availability for non-urgent matters. If you call their office during business hours, you will talk to a live person. It’s a point of pride not seen in many offices today.

Dr. Susanne Lockhart earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She graduated from medical school in the top 10% of her class. Dr. Lockhart completed her internal medicine internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Her dermatology residency training was performed at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Christie Matter attended The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where she received her Doctor of Medicine degree. She graduated with honors and completed an internal medicine internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Matter received her dermatology training at Duke University Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. She served as chief dermatology resident at Parkland Hospital.
Dr. Kyle Owens has quickly become a patient favorite for all ages, but especially with children and teenagers, due to his easygoing and friendly manner. He joined the practice in 2022. He attended medical school at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, his hometown. He graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Owens has a particular interest in psoriasis, acne, eczema, and skin cancer treatment. He prides himself on getting to know his patients and their families and enjoys doing school presentations on skin care and skin cancer prevention.
Brittany Roberts, MPAS, PA-C, physician assistant, graduated from Texas A&M with honors before receiving her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University with highest honors. She has practiced in the McKinney area for over three years and has a particular interest in psoriasis, eczema, and skin cancers. She makes sure to practice what she preaches with skin cancer protection in her personal life as she loves to fish and water ski on our local lakes.
If you choose this outstanding team for your skin care, you will be happy to see many of the same faces every time you visit. Most of the employees have worked here for 15 years or more.
In addition to being a Living Magazine reader favorite for many years, Lockhart Matter Dermatology has been recognized numerous times by Texas Top Doc and Castle Connolly Medical. These honors are awarded by peers based on professional qualifications, education, hospital and faculty appointments, research leadership, professional reputation, and disciplinary history.

The Gold Standard in Skin Cancer Treatment
Lockhart Matter has recently added a Mohs and facial plastic surgery center to their Plano location. This operation is considered the gold standard in treating certain skin cancers. It offers a high cure rate, minimal scarring, and the ability to treat sensitive areas.
Dr. Aatman Shah, Mohs and facial plastic surgeon, completed his fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and facial reconstructive surgery at the University of Cincinnati. A Plano native, he looked forward to returning home and practicing here. In addition to Mohs, he offers upper, lower, and total eye lifts (blepharoplasties) as well as modified face and neck lifts.
Dr. Eric Hollabaugh was the first Mohs surgeon in North Dallas and has been practicing for over 20 years in Plano. He was excited to join Lockhart Matter Mohs and Surgery Center in November. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, completed
an internal medicine residency at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas and his dermatology residency program at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, where he was the chief resident. He then completed his fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans.
