Dr. Sanober Amin doesn’t have to think twice about who had the greatest influence in her life. “My mother grew up in a village without a single doctor,” she said. “Although her options were very limited, she wanted more for me.” Not having many educational opportunities herself, she made sure her daughter received the best education available, even sending her an hour away for school each day.

“She didn’t speak English, but made sure I did,” Dr. Amin said. “If she couldn’t help me with my homework, she’d find me help making sure I always achieved the highest scores. I wasn’t allowed to skip school or miss an opportunity for learning a new skill or craft.”

When it came time for higher education, Dr. Amin immigrated to the U.S. where she obtained her undergraduate, graduate, and medical degree from Loyola University Chicago and University of Illinois at Chicago. She then completed a dermatology residency at University of Minnesota and opened Dermatology Solutions in 2019 to serve the Greater Grapevine community. She and her colleagues provide medical, surgical, pediatric, cosmetic, and telehealth options to an ever-growing patient base.

“We share a philosophy of providing compassionate, personalized care and partnering with our patients to formulate treatment plans to fit their lifestyle and budget,” Dr. Amin said. “And we take pride in delivering natural cosmetic results so our patients can look great at any age.” They also compile affordable prescription options, compounds, and coupons from local pharmacists.

One of Dr. Amin’s greatest joys is treating multiple generations of many local families, some even from outside Texas. “Any good doctor knows the profound effect kindness and compassion can have on patients,” Dr. Amin said. “Sometimes a genuine connection is what actually heals our patients, not just medical intervention and treatment. I call that the profound placebo effect.”

When not on the job, Dr. Amin is an avid cook. “My first research laboratory was my mom’s kitchen,” she said. “I remember being six and figuring out how to make ketchup with my mom in the middle of a power outage. We had many culinary successes together before her passing in 2020.” Nowadays, Dr. Amin enjoys wowing her friends with her culinary creations and spicy salsas.

She also mentors pre-health high school and college students, some of whom join the practice as medical assistants during their gap years to learn bedside manner and patient care in addition to child dermatology. Some even participate in clinical research and publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Amin serves on staff at several local hospitals as a consultant dermatologist for in-patient services. A firm believer in giving back, she volunteers her time serving as a judge at schools and county fairs, providing free skin cancer screenings around the community, and speaking at school career days.

Through their nonprofit, Compete in Goodness, she and her family support education and housing efforts to underserved communities and food banks locally as well as internationally and hold regular youth activities, speaker engagements, fundraising events, and campouts, where she often serves her culinary creations. Beginning March 14, she’ll be delivering dermatology care to local underserved community in Wise County.
