Clearway Pain Solutions is the largest pain management group in the U.S., and they’ve recently branched out to Texas with offices in Addison and Flower Mound. Both Texas offices are led by Mani Hashemi, MD, a highly accomplished pain management physician. As one of the few physicians in the nation that is double board certified in Emergency Medicine and Interventional Pain Medicine, Dr. Hashemi offers an unparalleled, holistic approach to pain care.

“I grew up in the Dallas area and attended Southern Methodist University,” said Dr. Hashemi. “My family is from here, so after my residency in Miami and fellowship in Chicago, I wanted to come back and serve the community where I grew up.”

Dr. Hashemi’s unique and holistic approach to pain management began when he was working at a Level One Trauma Center managing everything from traumatic brain injuries to work-related accidents. From this experience, he gained insight into the challenges patients face.

“Oftentimes, they would get ineffective treatments or they had long wait times,” shared Dr. Hashemi. “As a result, I’m passionate about addressing pain through a multidisciplinary approach combining interventions like neuromodulation (which is a fancy word that means to modifying your nerves), in addition to minimally invasive procedures, physical therapy, and extensive patient education.”

Dr. Hashemi’s goal has always been to provide compassionate, individualized care that enhances his patients’ quality of life. He approaches each case with the idea that each patient has a “recipe for their pain.”

“All of us have different factors that cause us to have pain,” he explained. “No two persons have the same level of arthritis, the same level of nerve pain, the same injuries in life, so that’s why a cookie-cutter blanket approach to everyone doesn’t make sense.”

Dr. Hashemi meets patients where they are to find a perfect recipe for relieving their unique pain. Whether those recipes call for fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided nerve injections, to physical therapy, to acupuncture or chiropractic or medication therapy, he brings the modalities together to create an individual specific recipe for them.

One such “recipe” Dr. Hashemi utilizes for patients with neuropathy is Qutenza, which recently won the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Qutenza is essentially a very high-grade chili pepper formula that is administered through a skin patch to relieve pain caused by nerve damage, such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia.

Dr. Hashemi recognizes that effective pain management goes beyond symptom relief — it requires addressing the mind, body, and spirit. His multidisciplinary strategy is patient-tailored, combining counseling, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, physical therapy, rehabilitation, advanced minimally invasive interventions, and when appropriate, complementary treatments like acupuncture, chiropractic care, and yoga.

“The higher calling for my life has always been to decrease the amount of pain and suffering that my patients feel,” said Dr. Hashemi, “and I think by serving with Clearway in Addison and Flower Mound, I’ve been able to kind of accomplish that to a large degree.”
