At Bare Dermatology, delivering an excellent patient experience isn’t just a promise — it’s a passion. This people-centered practice is proud to provide timely, accessible, and compassionate care for a full range of skin concerns. Behind that mission is a team of highly accomplished women who not only lead with expertise, but with heart. Among them include Heather Capps and Candi Carney.
Heather Capps is a board-certified physician assistant who brings over a decade of dermatology experience and a lifelong love for healthcare to her role. Originally a high school English teacher and soccer coach, Heather followed her heart into medicine and found her calling in dermatology. “As soon as I entered my dermatology block and then rotation, I knew I found my passion,” she says. “I loved that I could be in clinic but also perform surgeries, which I always enjoyed in orthopedics.”
Heather believes every patient deserves to feel seen, heard, and empowered. “I always want to make sure the patient knows they are the most important person on my schedule at that very moment,” she says. Her approach is rooted in education and compassion, helping patients understand their skin and feel like active participants in their care — especially young people. “I truly enjoy helping teens become more comfortable and confident in their skin,” she says. “I also try to remind them that no matter what, they are perfectly and wonderfully made.”
A standout moment in her career? Diagnosing a rare genetic condition that helped save the lives of her patient’s family members. “It was an incredible feeling knowing I had not only helped my patient, but also his whole family,” she says.
Also leading the way is Candi Carney, a family nurse practitioner with a passion for both general and aesthetic dermatology. Candi’s journey began as a teenager experimenting with homemade skincare, and she’s never looked back. “Helping teens and adults with their skincare journeys has become my passion. There’s nothing more fulfilling than teaching a teenager how to care for their skin or helping someone manage their acne,” she says. “I’m truly living my dream job.”
Candi is one of the nation’s first nurse practitioners to achieve certification as a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner. Her care philosophy is built on trust and education. “I believe trust is built through honest, open communication and truly listening to each patient’s concerns,” she says. “My goal is always to provide compassionate, informed care that puts the patient first.”
Whether its helping a patient glow with confidence or teaching skin cancer prevention, Candi brings heart and excellence to every encounter. “Some patients just need a little extra time and attention,” she says, “and I love being able to offer that.”
