Becoming a parent is one of life’s most profound and joyful experiences—but it can also be one of the most challenging. If you’re like many new mothers, you might be eagerly anticipating breastfeeding your baby, only to find that the reality is more difficult than you expected. You’re not alone. Bayou City Breastfeeding is there to help transform confusion into confidence and ensure that both you and your baby thrive.

When Suzanne Juel had her first child, she encountered challenges that left her feeling lost and discouraged. Despite seeking support, the solutions offered didn’t meet her needs. She decided to exclusively pump and persevered for 18 months. While this wasn’t what she envisioned, it became the catalyst for the founding of Bayou City Breastfeeding (BCB).

“I realized that if I, with all the resources available, still struggled, countless other mothers must be facing the same battles,” Suzanne recalls.

Since its inception in 2016, BCB has grown into the largest group lactation practice in Texas, with nine locations in Houston and two in San Antonio. Karen Zacharias leads the team in the Woodlands and Magnolia area.

BCB walks alongside families for the first two years of your baby’s life because breastfeeding isn’t just about the first latch; it’s a journey that evolves as your baby grows. They’ll be there with you at every stage—from sleepless nights to introducing solids and beyond.

Their support is a game-changer. The BCB team believes that relationship building starts even before your baby is born. They encourage expectant parents to begin working with them during pregnancy, so you’ll be better prepared to handle any challenges that might arise once your baby arrives.

“Pregnancy is the perfect time to start the conversation about breastfeeding,” Suzanne explains. “We can help you understand what to expect in those first few days and weeks after birth, how to prepare, and what signs to look for that might indicate the need for additional support.”

After that, BCB offers ongoing, personalized care that adapts to your baby’s changing needs. They’ll continue to monitor your baby’s development, address concerns, and provide advice, such as  when it’s time to introduce solid foods, etc.

Because every family’s situation is unique, they meet you where you are. Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, pumping, supplementing with formula, or facing challenges like colic or reflux, they’ll provide solutions that work for you.

They also believe that expert care should be accessible to every family. With insurance covering most visits, many clients find that their appointments are fully or partially covered, removing financial barriers to receiving the support you need.

“At the end of the day, our mission is simple: to build confident parents and thriving babies,” Suzanne says. “We’re here to walk alongside you, every step of the way.”
