Jacob Rosenstein, MD, FAAN, FACS

Perhaps Jacob Rosenstein was destined to become an award-winning neurosurgeon. The son of a gifted tailor, he absorbed lessons during his formative years about hard work, hand-eye coordination, and how to visualize in three dimensions and then manifest it into existence. Born in Ukraine, he immigrated to Bronx, NY and quickly earned a spot at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, famed alma mater to eight Nobel laureates.

This early academia set the stage for equally notable achievements including a medical degree from renown Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a residency and formal training in neurological surgery at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Hospital where he treated patients in the same ER trauma room where President Kennedy was attended in his final moments.

Dr. Rosenstein next embarked on a neurosurgery fellowship at the National Hospital for Nervious Diseases at Queen’s Square in London before returning to Texas in 1985 where he has pioneered excellence in neurosurgery for three decades and founded North Texas Neurosurgical Consultants. With over 40 years of experience under his belt and the vast amount of knowledge that brings, Dr. Rosenstein now provides a comprehensive range of treatment options for both surgical and non-surgical cases. He specializes in managing a wide range of conditions, from minor sprains to intricate spine disorders. His expertise lies in treating spinal issues such as complex spine and spinal fusion procedures, diagnosing, and addressing spine-related disorders, and utilizing minimally invasive techniques. He also provides care for patients with compressive peripheral nerve conditions like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow.

With his formative lessons in precision and attention to detail, Dr. Rosenstein has garnered a reputation for taking on complex cases, planning for them like Tom Brady plans for the super bowl! Because each patient is unique, Dr. Rosenstein and his team undertake extensive imaging and spend time with each patient to truly understand their condition and how it’s limiting their lives.

The same care and gentle approach required when operating so close to the human spine is the hallmark of his rapport with his patients during the pre-operative stage. He places an emphasis on patient empowerment, truly partnering with the patient, educating them about the surgical and non-surgical options that will best service them, involving them in all decision making, and tailoring a treatment plan that’s unique to each patient.

Even with his four decades of experience and stellar reputation, Dr. Rosenstein is diligent about continuing education, routinely logging over and above the number of hours required with the goal of continuing to hone his surgical skill and knowledge. And it’s not only in medical training that he’s seeking to improve and advance. His commitment to his own health and fitness led him to find the Southwest Age Intervention Institute where he empowers others to achieve the astonishing wellness and fitness he’s found, even at the end of his sixth decade.
