For Jauna French, Heath Hair Salon & Spa is about more than providing exceptional salon and spa services to the Greater Heath Community. It’s about impacting lives — the lives of her guests, the lives of her team members, and the lives of her community. When Jauna first opened her doors in 1994, she was one of only two stylists working in a 900-square-foot salon. Now 30 years later, Heath Hair Salon & Spa is a vibrant part of the Heath community with a team of 38 Kérastase, Redken, and Pureology-certified experts serving clients from an elegant 4,600-square-foot salon and spa.

Although they serve 2,500 guests each month from all over Rockwall, Heath, Forney, and surrounding areas and offer the latest in salon and spa services, the vibe at Heath Hair Salon & Spa is still smalltown friendly. There are no strangers here. Only friends who haven’t yet met. And stylists and aestheticians are given the education and freedom they need to grow their business and showcase their talents and passion.

“When our artists join our team right out of beauty school, they’re partnered with an educator and spend the next six months to a year working toward their master’s,” Jauna said. During that time, trainees can take part in Opportunity Days when they can work with guests (which also allows guests to take advantage of tiered pricing). And even after they’ve earned their master’s, their continuing education never stops.

“This is a true teaching salon,” Jauna said. “I want our artists to have every opportunity to learn and grow within their profession. After 30 years, I’m still learning, and I want to empower them to do the same.”

Ongoing Education

Once a month, they schedule a salon-wide pow-wow for team building, celebrating, playing, and learning from the best and brightest in our industry,” Jauna said. “Our guests deserve — and expect — the absolute best when it comes to their haircare and skincare service. So, we’re always in search of anything new or better we can offer them.”

Jauna understands that her team members are at many different stages of life. That’s why she encourages them to work split shifts or flexible schedules when needed. “If you’re at a stage where you have small children at home, you might need to work part time to be available for them,” Jauna said. “Then, in a few years, when the kids are older, you’re welcome to work full time and have access to all the full-time benefits. We want to do everything we can to help our employees succeed — in business and in life.”

That generosity has been rewarded with employees who love to come to work. And that job satisfaction benefits their guests. “We’re blessed with guests who’ve come to us since we opened our doors, and we can’t thank them enough for their vote of confidence,” Jauna said. “We have literally hundreds of positive reviews online and most of our business is either repeat or referral. It humbles us to know we’re giving guests a salon and spa experience they enjoy enough to return to us and to recommend us.”
