Let the Spirit of Life Biblical Counseling Group help
you experience God’s grace, forgiveness, and
healing.
Being a
Christian doesn’t keep people from experiencing relationship struggles,
emotional pain, or guilt. While walking as a Christian in the world today can
be tough at times, the counseling team at Spirit of Life Biblical Counseling
Group wants people to know that God has a purpose for their life, and they
are certainly not alone.
“No matter what you’ve been through, there is
hope,” says Rebecca Akers, the director of biblical counselors.
The practice has served the greater Houston
area for nearly two decades, helping individuals, couples, and families work
through their challenges from a biblical perspective while deepening their
relationship with God.
“Our mission has always been to help the Lord
to restore broken relationships between Him, the family, and the Church,”
Rebecca says.
Four Christian counselors — Rebecca Akers,
Melody Pearson, Pastor Chad Miller,
and Kathy Baker— are available to help with virtually any issue someone might
be facing, including substance abuse, sexual addiction, and anger management.
The team uses the Bible as the foundation of their counseling and keeps all
sessions confidential.
“We work together as a tight-knit group,”
Rebecca says. “We all have different skills and use different modalities to
help our clients. We want to empower them to do what God created them to
do.”
A certified lay counselor with the American
Association of Christian Counselors, Rebecca is passionate about helping
people recover from their hurts and find healing for
new beginnings.
She says the most rewarding part of her job
is seeing the light in someone’s eyes when they realize they’re okay with
God. “So many people think God is mad at them or God is punishing them,”
Rebecca says. “It’s so wonderful when they can feel His grace and love and
know that everything will be okay. God has a plan, and He will take whatever
is bad and make it into something good.”
While the Spirit of Life Biblical Counseling
Group does not take insurance, the practice keeps rates low so that people
can afford to get the help they need. Most sessions last for an hour, but
sometimes run longer. “All of us are more interested in connecting on a
deeper level with our clients and giving them what they need rather than watching
the clock,” Rebecca says. “Like Isaiah 40:30 teaches us, we want to help
people soar and do what God created them to do.”
