For over 40 years, Stan Lowrance, DDS, and his staff at Lowrance Dental have provided exceptional dental care for patients of all ages. A well-known dentist in the Rockwall community, Dr. Lowrance graduated with a Bachelor of Science from West Texas State University. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981, opening his dental practice in Rockwall in the same year.
Dr. Lowrance continued to expand his knowledge by completing studies at the Midwest Implant Institute of Columbus, Ohio, where he received the highest honor given to the graduating class — the Presidential Award in 1991. In addition, he was named Who’s Who in Outstanding Americans and completed a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Since opening this practice, he has been the recipient of the following honors and awards:
- Rockwall Noon Rotarian of the Year (1988)
- Rockwall Noon President (1995)
- Rockwall Area Man of the Year (1999-2000)
- Rotary District 5810 Rotarian of the Year (2001)
- Rockwall ISD trustee (2004-2011)
- First-ever recipient of Rockwall’s Hometown Hero Award (2020)
The Drive to Make a Difference
Becoming a dentist was not a career Dr. Lowrance originally foresaw for himself. “I hated going to the dentist as a kid,” he reminisces. “It was scary. There was so much fear of the unknown.”
This fear and apprehension changed when he met a dentist, unlike those he had previously dealt with. “He was this really nice guy who just happened to be a dentist,” he said. “He took time to answer my questions and explain what he would do and why. I realized that going to the dentist didn’t have to be a frightening experience.” This encounter changed Dr. Lowrance’s whole career trajectory and stuck with him for the rest of his life.
“When I see someone who’s nervous, or even scared the way I was, it’s time for me to stop and get to know them,” he says. “I allow a minimum of an hour for every new patient. I take the time to get to know them personally — part of that time is spent chatting and addressing any fears, questions, or concerns they have.”
This firm belief in providing compassionate care drives how Dr. Lowrance runs his practice. “I never want anyone to feel the way I did at the dentist as a kid,” he states.
This dedication to his core values is one of the reasons Lowrance Dental is a highly rated business. Not only does the practice have over 190 five-star reviews on Google, but many of his patients have been with him for decades. One such patient explains, “I’ve been with Dr. Stan, Anne, and other staffers for 20+ years, and nobody does it better! Caring, prompt, and professional, the whole office is a pleasure to deal with.”
A Pillar of the Community
Lowrance Dental provides high-quality care, from routine checkups to complex procedures, no matter the patients’ needs. Using state-of-the-art technology and his four decades of experience, Dr. Lowrance’s practice offers the following services: general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, Zoom! whitening, wisdom teeth procedures, Invisalign, and sedation dentistry. The staff is also committed to connecting with their patients personally to help them feel valued and understood.
Lowrance Dental also epitomizes the saying of a family practice with family values — both Dr. Lowrance’s daughters work on staff with him. Shanae Lowrance, DDS, graduated from Texas A&M College of Dentistry and started to work at her father’s practice in 2019. Stan’s other daughter, Chloe Lowrance, is the office’s scheduling coordinator. After working as a kindergarten teacher for a few years, Chloe decided to join the family business and has been there ever since.
In addition to spending time with his beautiful family — his wife Cyndie, Chloe, and Shanae — Dr. Lowrance enjoys raising Shorthorn cattle, scuba diving, basketball, and various other sports and events in his free time. He has also been involved in foreign dental missions since 1987 and other various charities.
He is proud of the dental legacy he has built using life skills and lessons learned from his father — work ethic, integrity, and Christian values — that made a meaningful impact on his life.
Giving Back to Our Troops
On November 11, 2022, Lowrance Dental will host its annual “Dental Day for Veterans Day.” Also known as D-Day for V-Day, this event is where local veterans are provided with a full day of free dental care. Each and every veteran will receive a health check, an oral cancer check, and their immediate needs and concerns met.
This year’s goal is to provide dental services to 100 veterans. Working with and through the American Legion, Dr. Lowrance and 30 dental volunteers help provide veterans with quality dental care. Interested veterans should call the Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 at (520) 609-4145 to set up their appointment.
Because of the tremendous impact D-Day for V-Day has had on the Rockwall-Heath community, Rockwall County Judge David Sweet and Mayor of Heath Kelson Elam have made a proclamation which declares that henceforth, every Veterans Day in Rockwall County also be known as D-Day for V-Day.
D-Day for V-Day is essential to Dr. Lowrance. His father served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and became a coach, teacher, and school administrator. Having an immediate family member who served in the military left a lasting impression on Dr. Lowrance. His father instilled in him the critical life skills of work ethic, integrity, and Christian values, traits that still make up who he is, and his practice of giving back to the community.
“I’ve always taken care of veterans. My dad was a veteran; he had five brothers who were veterans,” he explains. “We all need to respect the people who protect our liberty and freedom. I’m honored to give back in this small way.”
If you are interested in sponsoring a veteran, you can donate $40. This will go toward each veteran receiving an Oral-B Electric toothbrush, Pro-Health mouthwash, toothpaste, floss picks, and a T-shirt. Both cash and checks are accepted, with checks being addressed to “Lowrance Dental” with the subject line “D-Day for V-Day.”
