Wrinkle & Worry Free

Minimizing those pesky little lines

Sure, wrinkles are just part of the aging process, and yeah, we should probably learn to live with it! But if we aren’t necessarily ready to… fully embrace them, there are at least a few things we can do to minimize their appearance.

Wrinkles happen when collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin begin to break down and lose their ability to keep the skin’s surface smooth and firm. Certain things exacerbate and increase the number of wrinkles appearing on our faces, including age, genetics, sun damage, and smoking. So what to do?

First things first, you’ve got to have a quality care process in place to help prevent wrinkles. Make sure you moisturize daily, use sunscreen, wear sunglasses (so you’re not squinting), consume superfoods, and drink lots of water each day. Aside from good living, if you want to tend to those wrinkles without undergoing surgery you might check out a few of these popular cosmetic treatments.

1. Botulinum toxin: Botox blocks nerve signals to the injected muscles, creating a smooth and wrinkle-free look. Common areas treated include frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles. About 7 million people opted for Botox in 2016, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dysport and Xeomin are other kinds of Botox on the market.

2. Dermal fillers: Injectable fillers add volume to an area on the face that has experienced fat loss due to aging or extreme weight loss. Fillers can soften facial creases and wrinkles. Common types of fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Radiesse, Sculptra, and Belafill.

3. Dermabrasion: If you have fine facial wrinkles, a dermabrasion session can help by “refinishing” the surface of the skin through the use of a vacuum suction device paired with a chemical crystal.

4.Chemical peels or laser resurfacing: These types of treatments remove the uppermost layer of your skin, stimulating collagen production, tightening sagging skin, and smoothing out your complexion.

Life is short, so don’t feel needlessly insecure about your appearance. Take care of yourself and don’t be afraid of getting a little help.
