Looking your best is always in style, no matter what year we’re in. However, the treatments and services used to refresh, restore, and revitalize your appearance change over time as technology and products evolve. We’ve highlighted a few newer products and trends that will continue to grow in 2024.

Stackable Treatments

Prepare to be amazed. Stacking applies a customized, multilayered approach to age-defying skin rejuvenation. It involves performing two or more different medspa treatments back-to-back in the same session. Your provider may use a single system, such as Morpheous8, that combines RF (radio frequency) therapy with microneedling or different technology platforms, such as a laser and a broadband light. Either way, the results should be impressive.

Specialized Fillers

Smooth, plump skin is in, and your medspa injector, dermatologist, or plastic surgeon can work miracles using a combination of dermal fillers, artfully creating natural-looking results.

One of the newest dermal fillers is Skinvive by Juvéderm. Touted by its maker (Allergan) as the first and only hyaluronic acid intradermal microdroplet injection for skin smoothness available in the U.S., it works beneath the skin’s surface to enhance hydration and improve skin quality. Skinvive is approved for all Fitzpatrick Skin Types to improve the smoothness of the cheeks.

Another popular newcomer is Restylane Eyelight, which addresses tired-looking eyes due to loss of volume in the under-eye area called the tear trough. The injectable hyaluronic acid-based filler has a firm gel texture that helps it stay in place, reducing shadows that make the area appear dark.

Botox Alternatives

Fewer appointments due to longer-lasting injectables? Yes, please! Expect to see the use of Daxxify continue to grow to treat the 11s — those short vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows as we age. Free of human albumin or animal-based components, you can expect Daxxify to last around six months, compared to Botox, which typically lasts about four months. Ask your provider to compare Daxxify, Botox, and other brands for you.

Broadband Light (BBL)

While IPL (intense pulsed light) remains a time-tested, foundational anti-aging treatment, BBL kicks it up a notch. These non-invasive, non-laser treatments use light energy to treat freckles, age spots, uneven skin tone and texture, and small blood vessels. BBL also stimulates new collagen production. The best way to determine which treatment option is right for you is by consulting with your medspa provider.

Thread Lifts

Want an instant facelift effect? Thread lifts elevate and tighten your skin with tiny polydioxanone (PDO) threads. Inserted and anchored into different layers of the skin via thin, hollow needles, PDO threads dissolve on their own, usually within six to nine months. The results may last up to 18 months as collagen production continues.

Depending on your needs and goals, your provider may recommend combining a PDO thread lift with RF or Ultrasound skin tightening treatments and dermal fillers to produce a real “Wow!” effect. Maintenance with fresh threads over time is required to address aging as it progresses.
