A traumatic horseback riding injury in high school set Eliza Codd on the path of becoming the medical professional she is today.
“I sustained a compound femur fracture at age 17,” she shared. “I saw my bone pop through my skin. I was thoroughly traumatized, and the care I received was disappointing, causing me to require four additional surgeries. My mom was a nurse, so I knew there were better ways to offer treatment and encourage patients.”
This realization resulted in Eliza entering the field of medicine with a strong desire to pursue excellence in all aspects of patient care.
After completing her education as a double board certified nurse practitioner credentialed in family practice and acute care, Eliza joined a cardiology practice. Her interest and expertise in treating diseased veins grew; especially when she saw such improvement in the quality of life of her patients post treatment. Eliza was also impressed with the value of preventative cardiology treatment. Even for patients with a strong family history of heart disease, preventative treatment can help them live healthy and productive lives. That’s why Eliza chose these areas of focus when she opened her practice.
The Woodlands Vein Center offers a more intimate and personal medical experience than the norm. The trained and experienced team will put your needs first by taking time to listen and share with you about your medical status and concerns. Eliza believes in taking into consideration the whole body since all body parts are dependent upon each other. She knows her patients as individuals with a variety of preferences and needs.
Many people think only of the cosmetic aspects of varicose and spider veins on the legs. Of course, these can become unsightly and are treated by Woodlands Vein Center. However, the more serious issue is venous insufficiency, a condition in which vein walls and the valves within the veins weaken and stretch, so that the veins no longer function to move the blood back to the heart efficiently. Patients may experience swelling, pain, aching, heaviness, fatigue, numbness, tingling, and restless leg syndrome. Without treatment, these problems continue to escalate, and other body parts are adversely affected. Eliza at The Woodlands Vein Center will share all treatment options with you, helping you choose the least invasive and most effective treatment to meet your needs. Vein treatments are done at the office with most patients returning to work that day. Eliza’s advice when it comes to any symptoms you may be experiencing is to check it out. So many unnecessary consequences can be avoided or lessened with early care. Contact the team at The Woodlands Vein Center and Preventative Medicine Clinic.
