For Dr. Sarah Kim, board certified general surgeon and founder of Radiant Surgical Specialists of North Texas, guiding patients through that uncertainty is not just part of the job — it is the heart of her calling.

“Traversing the healthcare system can be daunting,” Dr. Kim says. “I tailor each visit to the patient and take the time to listen to their story so we can arrive at the right diagnosis and treatment plan.”

Since 2019, Dr. Kim has served patients throughout North Texas, launching her solo private practice in 2021. Based in Allen, she provides surgical care at hospitals and surgery centers across Allen, McKinney, Frisco, and Plano. Her scope includes both elective and emergency procedures — everything from gallbladder removal and appendectomies to complex hernia repairs and removal of soft tissue masses.

“I perform elective, simple to complex general surgery procedures, as well as acute care and emergent surgery,” she explains. “The purpose of an office visit is to figure out if patients need surgery and to discuss options, risks, benefits, and precautions. Sometimes patients come in thinking they need surgery — and sometimes they may not need surgery. If they don’t, I help them navigate the system and can refer to the appropriate specialist to get to the right diagnosis.”

That collaborative mindset reflects Dr. Kim’s broader commitment to comprehensive care. She works closely with primary care physicians and specialists across the region to ensure seamless communication and timely treatment. Accessibility, she believes, can make all the difference in outcomes — and in peace of mind.

“My office provides concierge-like surgical care,” she says thoughtfully. “I’m easily available to my patients and referring doctors. Patients know they can reach us with questions or concerns.”

In an era of increasingly complex healthcare systems, that level of responsiveness stands out.

Clinically, Dr. Kim brings advanced expertise to every case. She performs most of her procedures using minimally invasive robotic techniques, including in emergency settings. “When we can operate robotically through tiny incisions, patients heal faster,” she says. “There’s less tissue damage, less pain, and they can often go home the same day and return to their daily life sooner.”

Dr. Kim’s path to medicine is equally inspiring. A first-generation college graduate and the first physician in her family, she earned a prestigious Park Scholarship at North Carolina State University before completing medical school and a master’s in public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed her general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, with specialized training in trauma, acute care, and robotic-assisted surgery.

Today, her practice reflects both technical excellence and personal dedication.

“At the end of the day,” Dr. Kim says, “my goal is to get patients from being sick to recovering as smoothly and safely as possible. Listening to them, being available, and providing timely care — that’s what truly makes a difference.”
