Communication is the cornerstone of any relationship. Whether it’s a relationship with a family member, romantic partner, friend, or business acquaintance, being able to connect and communicate is vital to our human experience. Without it, it’s easy to feel isolated and depressed. Dr. Diane Blaising understands this better than most. It’s why she’s devoted her life to offering the gift of hearing to her Fort Worth friends and neighbors.

Diane’s fascination with the auditory system began with a science fair project in elementary school. “I took a portable record player to school,” Diane said. “Instead of using the needle on the record, I had a sewing needle stuck into a pencil eraser. Students would hold the wooden end of the pencil between their teeth, place the needle on the turning record, and could hear the record through their teeth and bones in their skulls. It was a demonstration of bone-conduction hearing.”

Diane enjoys the human side of audiology even more than the medical/science side. “I love making a difference in the lives of my patients,” she says. She opened Cityview Audiology & Hearing Aids, Inc. in 2008 where she offers what she calls “total hearing care”.

“I want my office to serve as a resource center for everything hearing related,” she says. “For instance, we offer a free aural rehab class to teach coping strategies to those with hearing loss and their loved ones. The idea is to empower family members to communicate better with those with hearing difficulties.”

“I’ve been blessed with an amazing team that’s as passionate as I am about helping our patients realize a better quality of life and more meaningful relationships through improved communication with family and friends,” Dr. Blaising said. “We love helping working men and women enjoy more success in their careers and helping grandparents better communicate with their grandchildren. At a time when hearing-aid technology is more sophisticated than ever, we’re able to treat any hearing
loss successfully.”

“Because every patient is different, we stay abreast of advancements in programming software to correctly fit hearing instruments to each unique hearing loss,” Dr. Blaising said. “Because research has linked hearing loss to dementia, we also offer cognitive domain screening that helps us better help our patients even as we treat their hearing loss.”

Diane Blaising received her doctor of audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences and her master’s in audiology from the Callier Center for Communication Disorders at the University of Texas at Dallas. She has years of experience working with hearing-impaired adults and children in otolaryngologists’ offices and as a pediatric audiologist at the Louisville Deaf Oral School. She is board-certified in audiology by the American Board of Audiology and has twice received the Ace Award for continuing education.
