Talk to Mandy Cotten for any length of time and it’s easy to see the passion she has for the work she does. That work can best be described as partnering with men and women to help them find the best wellness plan of care for a healthy, vibrant life. Mandy believes strongly in involving patients them in their own health and wellness decisions, empowering them to be their own best health advocate.

As a family nurse practitioner, wife, mother, researcher, author, former director of clinic and research at BioTE Medical, and current owner of Institute for Hormonal Imbalance, it’s easy for Mandy to relate to the men and women who come to her feeling frazzled and not at their best.

Mandy begins with her researcher’s hat, conducting thorough testing and asking probing questions to begin formulating a course of action. Then, she switches to her teacher’s hat, educating patients about the hows and whys of treatment options then honoring the choices they make.

One important tool in her medical “tool belt” is bioidentical hormone BHRT for restoring healthy hormone levels in men and women— naturally. Mandy has personally performed over 35,000 BHRT pellet procedures. She’s also in demand as a trainer teaching others in her field about the importance of hormone optimization to assist patients in achieving the highest quality of life. And her Institute for Hormonal Balance also offers facial and body aesthetics, wellness and weight loss, and gynecology and intimate medicine.

Mandy graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006 and an additional Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010. While working as a registered nurse for five years at John Peter Smith Hospital, Mandy completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Loyola University in New Orleans and became board certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

She served on the clinical advisory board for BioTE Medical for eight years and was their director of clinic and research. During her time there, Mandy participated in the training of over 4,000 of her fellow practitioners both nationally and internationally and became a published author when she coauthored “Breast Cancer Incidence Reduction in Women Treated with Subcutaneous Testosterone: Testosterone Therapy and Breast Cancer Incidence Study” published in the European Journal of Breast Health in 2021.

With her love of teaching and research, Mandy currently serves on the board for Formula 30A CBD Company, speaks on thyroid management for Acella Pharmaceuticals, and is highly sought after for interviews and speaking engagements. When not caring for patients and running her thriving practice, Mandy loves spending time with her family and giving back to the community.
