When Dr. Roth Hinkle walks into a room, patients immediately feel his calm, approachable manner — a quality that recently helped earn him recognition in Living Magazine’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Best Of showcase.

His wife, Virginia, recorded his reaction to the news and later posted it to social media, where it’s been viewed by hundreds of their friends, patients, and neighbors.

“It’s humbling,” Dr. Hinkle says. “I just try to take good care of people every day, and everything else works itself out.”

This humility is a hallmark of Hinkle Family Dental in Southlake, where Dr. Hinkle and his team have built a practice rooted in integrity, long-term relationships, and genuine care. “We prayed for this practice for 16 years,” he says. “God’s timing was perfect.”

Dentistry has always been a part of Dr. Hinkle’s life. His father is a dentist, and young Roth spent summers working in the family practice. By 14, he had an X-ray and polishing license. “I even dressed up as a dentist for Halloween one year,” he says. “I’ve just always known this is what I wanted to do.”

This passion carried him into the prestigious Baylor College of Dentistry Dual Degree Advanced Placement Program, an elite program that accepts just four students a year. After graduating in 2008, Dr. Hinkle honed his skills in restorative dentistry, sedation, oral surgery, and dental sleep medicine, always pursuing continuing education to stay ahead of the curve. But for him, dentistry is as much about relationships as it is about technique.

“I ask patients what their goals are and help them get there without pressure,” he says. “Many people come in afraid because of past experiences. Our goal is to make them feel safe and comfortable.” For example, Dr. Hinkle says one patient came in after years of avoiding the dentist due to fear. After her treatment, she told him she finally felt comfortable enough to smile in family photos again.

That sense of trust and connection is what drives their work. Virginia says that building personal connections is at the heart of their practice. “We want anyone who walks through our door to feel like part of the family,” she says.

That same sense of care carries into their personal lives. The Hinkles are active in their church and in the nonprofit Dragons Care, which Virginia founded to support Carroll ISD teachers, staff, and School Resource Officers facing serious hardship. Together, they also treasure moments with their two daughters, Audrey and Charlotte, from bike rides and beach trips to cozy movie nights with popcorn.

Whether he’s restoring a smile for a patient or building a sandcastle with his girls, Dr. Hinkle brings the same heart and dedication to everything he does. “The most rewarding thing,” he says, “is making a difference for people — helping them out of pain, restoring their confidence, and being there when they need someone.”

For Dr. Hinkle, the real reward isn’t the recognition — it’s helping patients feel safe, cared for, and confident in their smiles.
