For upwards of two decades, the office of Dr. Charles E. Dyer IV has served the Cypress and surrounding communities as a periodontist, one who specializes in the complex group of tissues that surround and support the teeth. Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, Dr. Dyer’s ambition to become a dentist and later a periodontist was inspired by his father, who was himself a pediatric dentist.
After graduating with honors from Texas A&M University, he attended the University of Texas-Houston Dental Branch, where he earned his dental degree. He then attended the University of Kentucky to study periodontal surgery and implantology. There, Dr. Dyer worked in three dental offices and published several academic articles while serving as a chief resident. He graduated with a master’s in public health and certification in the specialty of periodontics.
However, all these distinctions are not what makes Dr. Dyer a trustworthy clinician.
“What I believe makes myself and this office different is that I was raised by steadfast parents who instilled within me the importance of small-town values, including being a man of faith, being invested in the community, having strength of character and a hard work ethic, and having a team that shares these sentiments. Those values emanate through our practice and have translated into long-term success. We have found no substitute for working hard and standing by our patients.”
The work ethic at Dr. Dyer’s practice is evident with office hours from 8 AM to 6 PM every Monday through Friday. From the first phone call to the moment patients walk through the doors of their brand-new state-of-the-art facility, every effort is made to deliver patients a warm and inviting welcome.
“Our goal is to offer patients a calming dental experience,” said Dr. Dyer. “Our team will be there for you before, during, and after treatment.” That steadfastness in care from beginning to end and after hours begins with practice manager Lacy Dyer. “She is both my partner in life and work, she is the glue that holds this office together, whether that means the day-to-day function or establishing the right tone amongst staff members. She ensures that patients are comforted and that our team exudes a sense of empathy and compassion.”
The team is sensitive to the fears and anxiety that accompany a visit to the dentist. Dr. Dyer and his team are aware of the stigmas that arise from having surgery and the judgment that people may receive when their smile is not the best. At Dr. Dyer’s office, that stigma is lifted. Each patient is examined from the perspective of what is best for them. The team will go above and beyond to deliver the absolute best results, delivering a comprehensive treatment plan, and utilizing state-of-the-art equipment.
“We bring years of experience, the most effective technology and surgical methods to each individual treatment plan,” said Dr. Dyer. “Our goal is for all our patients to find happiness within their smile which includes healthy teeth and gums.”
By developing personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s individual needs, Dr. Dyer’s office will provide the most effective solutions for gum disease and other problems related to the supporting tooth structures. Treatment plans are unique to each patient’s needs and desires. The staff will thoroughly explain all options and make sure patients know what to expect
from treatment.
Another distinguishing factor that has contributed to Dr. Dyer’s office success is the deep sense of gratitude and involvement he has for his community.
“For 20 plus years we have invested both our time and resources into this community and surrounding areas,” said Dr. Dyer, “to solidify those relationships with both patients and area organizations we continue to contribute to area school fundraisers, sponsor various sports teams and are in the process of establishing a scholarship fund for students showing an interest in dentistry. We do these things to reflect the way we were raised and to demonstrate how honored and grateful we are to have been supported by our patients, neighbors, and friends. More than anything we give to say thank you for allowing us to serve you and we look forward to continuing that service.”
Dr. Dyer also credits his patient base with allowing him and his wife to make an impact globally. One of their passions is animal welfare, and currently Dr. Dyer is the director of public relations and his wife the managing director for the Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that provides advanced veterinary dental care to sanctuaries and zoos across the country and abroad. He and his wife also participate in conservation work overseas.
Dr. Dyer and his team are additionally grateful to their patients, who continue to give positive reviews and referrals to friends and family. The trust that comes with knowing that your periodontist is invested and lives within the community is something that continues to be a key to the longevity of Dr. Dyer’s practice.
“Our patients see us outside the office, and they appreciate our involvement,” said Dr. Dyer. “I learned from my parents that we must hold ourselves to a standard that’s not only applicable inside the office but outside the office as well. I continue to be thankful for the opportunity that this community and patients have afforded this practice and the people within it. I am looking forward to the next 20 years of serving our community and those that surround it. We know our patients have choices, and I hope that we are one of the first they call upon. We are striving to make sure that we maintain that ability.”
