As the president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney, Tim Bowen leads a team that continues to advance the robust care offerings available at the medical center. They are honored to be continually recognized on a national level for quality care and for providing personalized care so patients can keep living well their way.
“Care is very individualized, and many people see us as their hometown hospital,” Bowen said. “That’s something our team has always embraced; they understand that everyone’s situation is unique. We never want anyone to feel like another number — regardless of how much we grow. We lean into that and want people to have control over their healthcare and be on that journey with us.
“We’ve had the opportunity to be part of our neighbors’ best days and, sometimes, their most difficult days.”
That mentality has helped Baylor Scott & White – McKinney endear itself in the eyes of a community that has grown equally fast. As individual needs evolve, the hospital answers the bell while putting people, community, and relationships first.
As a result, Living readers again voted Baylor Scott & White – McKinney Best Hospital in 2024.
“We love this community and what we do,” Bowen said. “Our team brings that purpose and passion to work daily. We are improving, and the patients we work with ultimately benefit. We thank Living readers and are honored to earn their support. This is an honor and responsibility that we take very seriously.”
The 192-bed hospital is a full-service, fully accredited not-for-profit facility offering advanced medical services for women’s services, neonatal intensive care, orthopedics, heart and vascular, neurosciences, stroke, diagnostic imaging, intensive and emergency care, and more. Several organizations recognized the hospital for quality and successful patient experiences, including CMS, U.S. News & World Report, and Leapfrog — all organizations that evaluate hospitals on quality metrics — and its trauma department was designated by the State of Texas as a Level II. Baylor Scott & White – McKinney also provides care to mothers and babies in its Level III NICU and maternal care program.
“Our health system has an app, MyBSWHealth, that makes virtual care open to all Texans — you do not need to have been a Baylor Scott & White patient before using this service,” Bowen said. “Baylor Scott & White Health providers are on call 24/7 through the app and MyBSWHealth website, offering care in under an hour for many conditions. This is beneficial to our communities, especially during winter virus season. The bottom line is that we want to be known for helping our patients with everything they need to live well, and we strive to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
Physicians provide clinical services as members of the medical staff at one of Baylor Scott & White Health’s subsidiary, community or affiliated medical centers and do not provide clinical services as employees or agents of those medical centers or Baylor Scott & White Health.
“We love this community and what we do. Our team brings that purpose and passion to work daily. We are improving, and the patients we work with ultimately benefit. We thank Living readers and are honored to earn their support. This is an honor and responsibility that we take very seriously.”
