Hormone imbalance may be a natural consequence of getting older however this doesn’t make the disruptive symptoms any more welcome. Unfortunately beginning in our 30s, women’s hormones start diminishing, primarily testosterone, which result in symptoms such as night sweats, mood swings, fatigue, and decreased libido. As women progress into menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels drop off drastically resulting in anxiety, joint pain, and vaginal and urinary symptoms. Men also start experiencing the symptoms of hormonal imbalance in their 30s resulting in loss of strength, motivation and stamina. However, Nurse Practitioner Mandy Cotten has enlivening news for her male and female patients. “Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) uses hormones from natural sources with the ability to closely match the chemical makeup of your own hormones diminishing the unwanted effects of hormone imbalance and allowing for enhanced quality of life.”

Mandy has provided bioidentical hormone treatment to thousands of patients and assisted them in finding a better, more vibrant life. Again, this year Living Magazine readers thanked her by voting her “Best Hormone Replacement” in Arlington. “Helping patients find a higher quality of life is what I come to work for everyday,” Mandy said. “Bioidentical hormones can be tailored to your specific needs and administered through your choice of creams, patches, pills, or pellets.” To date, Mandy has performed well over 30,000 pellet procedures—averaging 300 a month.

The primary benefits of BHRT are that it can help restore balance and health safely and naturally by providing relief from symptoms associated with hormone imbalance and supporting long-term health. BHRT can boost your mood, improve sleep, reduce brain fog, decrease hot flashes, decrease vaginal dryness, increase stamina and energy, increase muscle mass, decrease fat mass, increase libido, provide heart protection, bone protection, and brain protection, and enhance sexual desire typically within seven-to-10 days. Mandy and her team begin with initial comprehensive lab testing, complete a consultation over the patient’s concerns, and then develop an individualized plan of care.

Mandy and her team are experts in thyroid management as it is imperative to overall health. “Your thyroid is involved in multiple aspects of health including metabolism, temperature regulation, mood, and cardiac function,” Mandy said. “I assess my patients’ active thyroid hormones to determine if the patient has an issue with producing thyroid hormone or converting to the active form of the hormone. Both cause low thyroid symptoms, but do not show up in regular lab testing. Patients with low thyroid symptoms can have labs that appear normal, which is why we dive deeper into the levels.”

Mandy completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) both from Texas Christian University and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Loyola University in New Orleans is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Mandy served as the Clinical Director, Advisory Team Member, and Therapy Advisor for BioTE Medical for 8 years, and assisted in training 4,000 other providers in the BioTE method.

When not on the job, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Casey, and their children Rylie & Ashton.

I’m blessed to do what I love every day, partnering with my patients, educating them, and providing them with the best care possible.
